Green Steps ARK

WHITE PAPER

The ARK is a social and technological infrastructure that aims to enable a society that jointly develops ecological, social, and economic health. The starting point is the realization that the climate crisis cannot be solved in isolation, but is an expression of a deeper alienation of humans from themselves, from others, and from nature.

The central problem

Modern societies suffer from three intertwined crises:

  1. Ecological crisis (climate change, loss of biodiversity),
  2. Social crisis (alienation, inequality, fragmentation),
  3. Structural knowledge crisis (lack of global cooperation and learning structures).

Education for sustainable development (ESD) does exist, but it is highly fragmented, organized nationally, and does not achieve the necessary scale. At the same time, automation and unequal wealth distribution are exacerbating social instability.

The basic idea behind ARK

ARK is a gamified social learning and cooperation platform that supports people worldwide in

  • learning about regenerative lifestyles,
  • taking action locally,
  • and making their contribution to the common good and the planet visible.

It combines offline action in local communities with global digital coordination.

Activate. Restore. Know. A fun platform to transform our societies for good.

The Green Steps ARK is geared towards realizing triple health.

Project phase 1 strengthens and connects local communities as smallest cells of a global civil society in a gamified learning platform about education for sustainable development (SDG 17, 4).

Phase 2 pioneers the internet of nature and drives planetary health through stewardship over commons and the creation of bioregional identities (SDG 13, 4).

Phase 3 structures a conditional universal basic income and shows how wealth could be distributed globally through meritocratic ecosystem service remuneration (SDG 10, 4).
